The Homeroom Project is a community service initiative created to support Arts in Medicine programs throughout Florida. We collect donated art supplies and thoughtfully curate them into take-home kits for patients, partnering with hospitals that already have these impactful programs in place.
Inspired by the countless hours she and I spent drawing together in homeroom, this project is my way of honoring her legacy in a real and meaningful way. By sharing the healing power of creativity—the very thing that first connected us—we can bring comfort to those who need it most. And together, she and I can still make a difference, even if it’s just for one person, for one quiet moment.
We’re proud to have launched The Homeroom Project by supporting Arts in Medicine programs at Baptist Health, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay—places that held deep meaning for Donna. These donations mark a full-circle moment, allowing us to give back to the very communities that touched her life. It’s an honor to begin this journey with facilities that reflect her spirit, compassion, and belief in the transformative power of art.
The Soundtrack of Healing is a podcast that celebrates Sunshine’s legacy through the stories and memories we’ve shared over more than 30 years of friendship. Reflecting on these moments has been a part of my healing process, and I’m deeply grateful for her willingness to walk this journey with me. Sharing these stories brings me comfort, as I’m learning that healing comes from honoring her memory and the journey we experienced together.
A Dose of Sunshine is the “teacher perspective,” where I share clips of her no-nonsense wisdom as she tackles her end-of-life journey with humor and grace. Never once did she ask, “Why me?” Instead, she’d say, “Why not me?”—and then follow it up with a joke. Her words remind us to live fully, laugh often, and roll with the punches. Even in the hardest moments, she showed us that a little humor and a lot of love can make all the difference.
ICANCERVIVE shares the incredible story of my teacher, Donna Ramos. A seven-time cancer survivor, she defied every statistic and surpassed every expectation.
We lay it all out on the table. Nothing is off limits and we dive into the nitty gritty of her cancer battle, before, during and after diagnosis. The moments are both raw and moving, but that’s just how life is. She wanted to get her story out there, and trusted me with telling it.
